Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas)
A Light, Relaxed Dental Experience
Nitrous oxide, commonly known as laughing gas, is a gentle sedation option designed to help reduce anxiety during dental treatment. It allows you to remain fully awake while feeling calm and at ease.
A small, comfortable mask is placed over your nose, and within minutes you’ll begin to feel relaxed and more comfortable. You can still communicate with our team throughout your visit, but feelings of nervousness are significantly reduced.
One of the biggest benefits of nitrous oxide is how quickly it wears off. Once your appointment is complete, the effects fade rapidly, allowing most patients to return to their normal daily activities without lingering drowsiness.
This option is ideal for shorter appointments or patients with mild to moderate dental anxiety.
Oral Sedation A Deeper Level of Relaxation
For patients who experience higher levels of anxiety, oral sedation offers a stronger sense of calm. This involves taking a prescribed medication before your appointment, helping you feel relaxed even before you arrive.
During treatment, you will remain awake and able to respond, but in a deeply relaxed state where anxiety is greatly reduced. Many patients report that the appointment feels quicker and far more comfortable than expected.
Because the effects last longer, you will need someone to drive you to and from your appointment and plan to rest for the remainder of the day.
Oral sedation is often recommended for longer procedures, sensitive patients, or those who prefer a more relaxed overall experience.
